Health, Age And The Power Of Belief.

YOUR HEALTH, AGE AND THE POWER OF BELIEF.

I have come across a saying on the web and it fits in perfectly with what I believe. And, it goes something like this:

– Two people meet and exchange greetings. After some short conversation, one ask the other, ” how old are you?” The other person answered,  “You know that is none of my business, I am as old as I feel today”.

I have always like that retort because, it fits in perfectly with what I believe! Yeah…! 35 has always had a good sound and feel to me. So, I keep that in mind.

Of course, there are days when I feel like I am a 120 or 300 years old. With feeling of stress and possible physical aches and pains. Usually this can be attributed to eating foods that have in them, the ingredients/other foods that are on my don’t eat list.
——–
( Oh..! while I am typing this, I am drinking a tea made with Uva Ursi, Eyebright, Saw Palmetto, Gymnema Sylvestre and Bilberry. For blood vessel support, bladder and reducing sugar levels.)
——–

OK, so what I do to reverse my physical feelings, and get back to my preferred state of being. First, I adjust my diet ( you know you are, what you eat ), and mentally focus on my number 35. I eat mostly greens (broccoli, cauliflower, kale, spinach, herb salads and others) for a day or two. It works for me because it’s what I believe. It’s like hitting a reset button.

Don’t get me wrong, when I first start practicing this process, it was quite challenging. Sometimes I was so weak with the “sugar issue” I would have to crawl to the bathroom. Went Christmas shopping in 2010 and could barely standup but, I did it and no one knew (that’s how I am ).

__________________________________________________________________________________________________

I have taken responsibility for my own Being regarding these matters, and it feels just wonderful.

When I was having problems in 2010 regarding eating fats and fried foods ( which would immediately put me to sleep, shut me down. Eventually I ended up being carried to the hospital in an ambulance ( 911 ). My heart was pounding away I could hear it throughout my body and it was painful. No matter what I did ( warm to cold shower, lying on the floor, trying to sleep ), nothing worked.

On the way and in the hospital, my heart settled down ( have you, done something nice for your heart or told it that you love it recently. I do all the time? ).

The doctor there told me that I was anemic and that I should have more test done with my personal doctor. I went home and start researching my symptoms and feelings on the web. I personally came to the conclusion that I needed a ‘liver flush’

Still feeling awfully tired ( actually very weak ), I did a ‘liver flush’. What a difference a day makes. The liver flush worked. I felt absolutely great. I did two more ‘liver flushes’ over a month and a half. The Amazing Liver & Gallbladder Flush
As of today I can eat fats and fried foods with seemly no effect on me. But, I choose not to, and stay away from heavy fats and fried ( especially deep fried ) foods, as much as possible.
During all of this, I constantly focused on my number 35 and getting well. Today I can honestly say that I am 200% better than what I looked and felt like during that period, there are other times that I may cover in another blog post.

But, to me it all boils down to the ‘power of belief’. So, if you don’t believe that you will be well, “YOU Won’t”. There are two individuals that help to instill a clear understanding of the power of belief in me. They are Bruce Lipton’s  Bruce Lipton — The Biology of Belief and Kevin Trudeau’s  Your Wish Is Your Command 14-CD Set.  ” It Works For Me” because, “It Is What I Believe”.
The supplements I am taking, have many of the herbal extracts and super-foods that have help me restore and maintain
my health and well-being.

THE HEALTH PATH TO — WHAT WORKS FOR ME…!

THE PATH TO WHAT WORKS FOR ME…!

What works for me is eating natural/organic foods as a medicine and not just to satisfy hunger.

I have found that eating a large proportion of green and multicolored vegetables with a protein, a starch, oils or less frequently a carbohydrate, is the most beneficial for my body and how I feel. Often call food combining:

http://www.alderbrooke.com/images/chart.jpg ) or http://www.thewolfeclinic.com/pdf/foodcombining.pdf

Using food combining is how I prepare and consume my food. As different foods require different digestive juices ( acid and alkaline ) to properly process the nutrient your body needs. If you combine foods that require different digestive juices, you may slow-down or stop the digestive process and cause any number of effect, such as gas, bloating and fermentation or putrification in the case of meat protein. Instead of getting the healthy nutrients from the foods that keep our bodies healthy and in homeostasis, we get what can only be called poisons and food particles that may enter the blood stream causing inflammation/allergies and other negative health issues. Constipation or diarrhea may even be experience by some.

Because I have had ‘sugar’ issues ( I never use the ‘D’ word, as long as I can control it through food ). I have eliminated, I would say about 90% of the sugars, carbohydrates, dairy and basic grains (most grains contain gluten) from my diet.

I don’t eat beef or other similar meats. They have always caused my digestive system problems, even when I was younger. When I eat them it seems like my stomach starts to boil. I can literally feel and hear it turning in my stomach.

I may eat maple syrup, honey and sometimes Stevia. And, I have learned quite dramatically/physically not to use sweeteners except on those occasions where adding it will really make the difference.

THIS IS WHAT I DO…! YOU SHOULD CONSULT YOUR MEDICAL PRACTITIONER OR DOCTOR FOR YOUR PERSONAL MEDICAL ISSUES AND SOLUTIONS FOR SUCH. THIS IS NOT MEDICAL ADVISE. THIS IS ONLY MY PERSONAL BELIEF AND EXPERIENCE.

NOW REGARDING SUPPLEMENTS

I have been learning how to use herbs, and plant derived nutrients to supplement my diet. Foods such as: Hemp Protein, Seaweed/Kelp, Almond and Hemp milks. Super-foods like Noni, Maqui Berries, Spirulina, Goji Berries, Raw Cocoa, Chia Seeds, Salba, Cranberry,Hemp Seeds, Maca, Acai, Coconuts ( young fresh coconut juice and oils ), other oils: Brazil Nuts and Avocado ( I have cut down on my use of Olive Oils, because most are blends or inferior oils).

I use herbs like Hawthorn Berries, Horse Chestnuts, Witch Hazel, Butcher’s Broom, Bilberry (eyes) for blood vessel support and health.

For inflammation, I use herbs like Eye-Bright, Plantain Leaf (powder), Feverfew, Cat’s Claw.

For sugar issues, the ‘D’ word : Cinnamon, Bitter-Melon, Pterocarpus Marsupium, Gymnema Sylvestre, Fenugreek.

For digestive issues: Cat’s Claw, Fennel, Aloe Vera, Chamomile, Papaya, Senna, and others.

For general health: Turmeric, Cat’s Claw, Blessed Thistle, Coriander, Pau ‘dArco, Chlorella (detox) and others.

_________________________________________________________________________________________

I have tried many supplements, from Herbalife ( I was office manager for George Patton father of Lori Tartol both of Herbalife), Bohemian Diet, tried ACN products, others I have bought at health food stores.

When I speak of supplements I am first speaking of herbs, vitamins, minerals and enzyme supplements, then super-foods.

THESE FOODS AND NUTRIENTS ARE WHAT WORKS FOR ME.

Setting Up Your Twitter Account

Twitter is another major networking site that is fast growing in the world of social media today. To maximize the use of Twitter as a marketing and traffic tool, you need to first set up an account if you do not have one.

1. Go to www.twitter.com
2. You will see a sign up box. Enter your name, email address and password.
3. Confirm your account in the email address you used in signing up.
4. Add a profile picture. Now you are ready to tweet!

Create Your Twitter Content

Unlike Facebook, Twitter offers a limited amount of content you can post (140 Characters). It allows you only a few characters to be contained in your post. That is why, many people in Twitter use the social media site to express their feelings and the latest happening in their day.

Moreover, Twitter posts can also be used for business. It can be a big help to increase the traffic in your blog and/or website.

Create posts that are convincing, relevant and timely. If your posts are interesting, many people will follow you and your posts. The good thing about the limited length of post in Twitter is that it gives you more room to post teasers about stories.

Therefore, people who are interested in your teasers will click on the link and will be directed to your page to read the whole story.

However, the world of Twitter moves fast. After an hour, your posts are considered ancient. To save time and effort, you can create beforehand a list of what posts you will post in a couple of days. Also indicate the time when you will post your contents. By doing this, you will organize your posts that they always look fresh and interesting to people.

Get More Twitter Followers

You can gain more followers in Twitter quickly. Here are few ways in which you can increase the traffic to your blog/website through Twitter.

Make Yourself Known

Let the people know that you exist. You can do this by following anyone that follows you. Some people will not follow you if you do not follow them in return.

Follow and Comment Big Names

Tag large businesses in your tweets. This will take you to the front of their fan base. Hence, you will be easily seen and noticed by many. They can click on your tweets and follow you as well.

Be creative

If you are creative and your content is interesting, people will retweet your posts. When they retweet your content, they will give you credit as the original source of the post. People will not retweet posts that are boring and dull. Therefore, let your imaginative mind work in making the content of your tweets. Use Hashtags

A hashtag (#) is a symbol indicating that you are talking about a particular topic. You can search popular topics in Twitter and hashtag them. With this, your page will be listed in the search queue and people will click to your page.

Follow the right People

Do not follow too many people. Your credibility lies in the number of people following you. If you follow more people than those following you, you will look not as credible as you should be. In as much as possible, balance the number who follows you and you follow in return.

Your Twitter Traffic

Just like Facebook, Twitter has huge traffic as a social media site. However, the important thing is that you can convert them to your site traffic.

Post interesting contents. Create convincing teasers of a whole story. Put your website address below your profile picture. With all of these, you can effectively use Twitter as a Instant Traffic Method.

Conclusion

Now, you have learned the importance of traffic in your online business. You have also learned some popular and effective methods to flow traffic to your sites. Whatever method you are going to use, just make sure that you always provide the best user experience for your clients. Always keep in mind to incorporate quality and value in your contents. This will draw the attention and loyalty of potential clients to your website.

Do not just read. Take action and start making money from your Instant Traffic!

This is the End of my Social Media Blog Posting Stay Tune for my Next series of post

Jalapeno Heaven in Branford, CT Restaurant Review

I am sorry I haven’t done a blog post in a while. Truth be told I am a huge fan of Pinterest in using the social media network in my posts. A few a months ago they changed the way you can share pictures on your website. It took me longer than it should have to figure it out. I wish I could make the pictures bigger, however if click on the widget it will open up a new window and you will see a bigger, better picture. It will also give you a chance to comment on Pinterest. I am warming up to this.

On Saturday April 27, 2013 I had the opportunity to take my girlfriend and best friend Catherine L. Keoghan to Hammonasset Beach State Park in Madison, Connecticut. I wanted to take her somewhere special afterwards and I could not have thought of a better place than Jalapeno Heaven in Branford, CT.

Jalapeno Heaven’s address is 40 N. Main Street; Branford, CT 06405. Their phone number is (203) 481-6759. It is Route 1 and their picture from the outside is below.

Besides giving a review, I want to give my readers a chance to learn more. It is always good to have more than one opinion when you want to dine out.

I admit I judge a large part of Mexican Restaurants on the quality of their chips and salsa. Picture of theirs is below, I love the green salsa. I would be satisfied just to eat that alone all day.

Catherine, aka The Cat had the vegetable chimichanga. I recall her saying she really liked it. A picture of that meal is below. If The Cat would like to add any other comments I will invite her to do so on Pinterest. We are being interactive here.

I got the Heaven Combo. A picture of my dish is below. I forgot to mention I am not a fan of sour cream. It was very easy to scoop it off my dish. I enjoyed my dish immensely.

Jalapeno Heaven is in a house. Some people don’t care for this but we enjoyed the coziness. Ellen our server did an excellent job in making us feel comfortable. We are all different but I seriously think Jalapeno Heaven is a great place to bring a date.

The Help

Racism isn’t born, folks, it’s taught. I have a two-year-old son. You know what he hates? Naps! End of list.” — Denis Leary

In 1960s Jackson, Miss., aspiring writer Eugenia “Skeeter” Phelan (Emma Stone) crosses taboo racial lines by conversing with Aibileen Clark (Viola Davis) about her life as a housekeeper, and their ensuing friendship upsets the fragile dynamic between the haves and the have-nots. When other long-silent black servants begin opening up to Eugenia, the disapproving conservative Southern town soon gets swept up in the turbulence of changing times.

I have not liked a movie like this in a long time. I have mentioned in the past in different blog posts I do not care for movies over two hours. I didn’t mind it here as the characters and their stories were terrific. I didn’t want the movie to end. Some stories made me laugh while others made me cry. You do need tissues for this.

I immediately like the Skeeter character as she started to write her book and reflects on the past. She wants to honor Constantine, the maid who helped raise her. We see early in flashback how Constantine encouraged a young teenage Skeeter as she was not asked to a dance and felt bad. Constantine had the following advice to give….

“I wish you would quit feeling sorry for yourself. Now, that’s ugly. Ugly is something that grows up inside you. It’s mean and hurtful, like them boys. Now you’re not one of them, is you?”

Constantine follows up with “Every day…. Every day you’re not dead in the ground, when you wake up in the morning, you gonna have to make some decisions. Got to ask yourself, am I gone believe all them bad things them fools say about me today? You hear me? Am I going to believe all of them bad things them fools say about me today? All right.”

I’ve always believed you should treat people the way you want to be treated and what goes around comes around. I’ve also believed not everyone in the world is bad. Unfortunately there is always that one person that doesn’t want to evolve. We see this with the character Hilly Holbrook (Bryce Dallas Howard). Hilly forces her beliefs on others and not everyone has the courage to stand up to her. She has influence and wants to keep the status quo. I guess every story needs a good villain and Hilly delivers.

The only part of this movie I did not care for what the Hilly Holbrook and pie situation. It was an attempt at humor which I didn’t think worked. I would have rated this movie a good 4.5 stars if it wasn’t for that scene. I have to just give this movie 4.2 stars.

When I watch a movie I like to think. This movie had plenty of thought provoking moments.

Rudy’s Restaurant and Bar in New Haven, CT Restaurant Review

I previously mentioned in a blog post on how I read an article in New Haven Living about the 20 best burgers in the New Haven Connecticut area. Reading it gave me the motivation to start writing restaurant reviews. I thought it would be fun to check out these places and give my two cents. Click here to read that New Haven Living article best hamburger.

Prime 16 Tap House + Burgers was the first restaurant featured in the article that I reviewed. Today I do my second with Rudy’s Restaurant and Bar. Although Rudy’s was established in 1934 and has always been popular, they were forced to relocate a few years ago. The original Rudy’s was classified as a “dive bar”, this new Rudy’s is more upscale. The new address is 1227 Chapel St, New Haven, CT 06511. They are on the corner of Chapel St and Howe St. Below is a picture of the new location.

Besides giving a review, I want to give my readers a chance to learn more. It is always good to have more than one opinion when you want to dine out.

Rudy’s Restaurant and Bar
Yelp Reviews
Trip Advisor Reviews (note they have the old address listed)

I ordered the New Haven Burger which is listed as “8oz, / Swiss cheese / Bacon / West Coast Sauce / House Pickles / Bibb Lettuce / Grilled Onion” on their menu. I also had a choice of ketchup. I got the Curry Ketchup which is listed as “Tomato Purée/ Sugar/ Herb Vinegar/ Curry”. Below is a picture of my meal.

I have to say my burger was really good. In comparing it to Prime 16, I have to give the edge to Prime 16. If I was rating the burgers, I would give Prime 16 a solid 9, I would give Rudy’s an 8.85. The French Fries here were better than the ones I had at Prime 16. Anna Liffey’s still has the best French Fries in the Downtown New Haven Connecticut area, I think Rudy’s has the second. I did notice Rudy’s was just a little pricier than the other places I have reviewed. Not a complaint as much as it is an observation.

Looper

In the year 2042, Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is a Looper, a hired assassin for the mob who kills people sent from the future. But what will he do when the mob decides to “close the loop,” sending back Joe’s future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination?

In wake of the Sandy Hook tragedy in Newtown CT on December 14, 2012, some scenes in this movie may be disturbing. I live in Connecticut and there was a scene that reminded me of this.

I am a fan of science fiction time travel movies. This movie reminded me a lot of 1984’s “The Terminator”. It also reminded me of another Bruce Willis time travel movie “Twelve Monkeys”. I guess Bruce Willis likes to go back in time as this wasn’t his first time.

This film also explored the idea of telekinetic powers which use to scare me when I was a child. In the second pilot of Star Trek a character used this power to strangle someone from a distance. In the 1976 movie “Carrie” telekinetic powers were used by Carrie to annihilate her bullying classmates.

This is an entertaining movie. It had elements of some of my favorite movies and television shows growing up. I also like both Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. I don’t believe for one minute they could be the same character but I will let that one go. There are a couple scenes I question, that I am confused on, but will give this one three stars. It is under two hours which I always like. I enjoyed the dialogue much more than the action scenes.

Click here for the Netflix link in case you would like to add it to your queue. I am giving this one 3.6 stars.

I have been experimenting with Pinterest. I am linking poster pictures to my reviews. If you would like to take a look, click here.

Anna Liffey’s in New Haven, CT Restaurant Review

I have two favorite places in downtown New Haven for dining. One is the recent blog post review Zinc, the other is Anna Liffey’s. Both places have very different clientele. I would never go into Zinc wearing a T-shirt with sneakers on. It just would not be right for the atmosphere. I would do this for Anna Liffey’s. In fact I am uncomfortable in Anna Liffey’s wearing a tie.

When you open the door you will see a stairwell. I usually eat downstairs. Below is what you see when you open the door.

Besides giving a review, I want to give my readers a chance to learn more. It is always good to have more than one opinion when you want to dine out.

I had the Portabella Mushroom on Ciabatta Bread. It is listed on the menu as “Grilled Portabella Mushroom with Roasted Red Peppers and Goat Cheese on Ciabetta Bread served with Irish Fries.” The picutre of my meal is below.

I mentioned in a previous blog post how I am on a quest to find the best hamburger in the New Haven Connecticut area. I have yet to try the hamburger here as I love this sandwich that much. I discovered it during lent. I have tried similar plates at other restaurants and no one comes close to comparing. The French Fries here are my absolute favorite. I do tell people that Anna Liffey’s has the best French Fries. If I child again I would just get a plate of it.

In 2011 my friend Cat was visiting from Ireland. She loves this place. Anyway I was meeting her for dinner one Tuesday night and while waiting for her I met a nice couple. They were kind enough to offer me one of their “Spicy Chicken Egg Rolls.” It was fantastic. My friend Cat ordered the “Irish Style Vegetable Curry.” I finished it for her and that was also great. There is a good reason why Anna Liffey’s is one of my favorite restaurants in New Haven. I have yet to have a bad meal here.

Fun on Pinterest with Thought Provoking Quotes

Although I did make these pins for Pinterest, the intellectual property is not mine. I searched the web for both pictures and the exact quote. I pasted the pictures into PowerPoint and then edited them down to size with Gimp 2. It only took me a few minutes to do them. It was fun for me to do while taking a mental break.

The Robert Evans quote I heard on a documentary about him. He has had many different relationships with people over the years and I feel has a good grasp of society. His quote has helped me understand people better. I do have a few people in my life who truly believe the world revolves around them. Matt Stone and Trey Parker, the creators of South Park had a great line in episode “Fishsticks” (Season 13, Episode 5), “your ego is so big that you subconsciously remember things incorrectly to make yourself feel more important.” This episode is available on Netflix Streaming.

My second picture is the toast Elaine Benes made on “Seinfeld” just before her disastrous public dancing spectacle. Some people just can’t dance.

My last pin is from a Star Trek: The Next Generation episode. Data the Android wants to understand human behavior better and gets involved in a romantic relationship. He asked different crew members their advice and get very different but real answers. Captain Picard’s response I thought was the best. The episode is also available on Netflix Streaming (Season 4 Episode 25).

Prime 16 Tap House + Burgers in New Haven, CT Restaurant Review

I mentioned in an earlier blog post how I am on the quest to find the best hamburger. I want to share the article that got me interested in doing this and also my restaurant reviews. A picture of the magazine cover is below, click here to read the article.

This week’s adventure brought me to Prime 16 Tap House + Burgers which is featured in the article above. Their address is 172 Temple Street, New Haven CT 06510. Below is a picture of the outside of the building.

Besides giving a review, I want to give my readers a chance to learn more. It is always good to have more than one opinion when you want to dine out.

I had the Firehouse Burger. It is described on their menu as “hand formed beef patty stuffed with roasted jalapenos, onion, fire roasted pepper and garlic topped with pepper jack cheese. Romaine Lettuce, sliced tomato with a side of Sriracha mayo.” The picture of my Firehouse Burger is below.

This is my third hamburger review and this is a superior burger compared to the other two places. I am sorry Cask Republic. I am sorry Crush Sports Café. The hamburger and French here were just better. There is a reason why Prime 16 is featured in the article.

Prime 16 is also known for being a beer place. Most people I talk to like this. My one complaint is I like to have a Guinness with my hamburger and Guinness is one beer they do not have. It is a shame. My servers were not as friendly as the other two places mentioned here.

Although Prime 16 does have the better burger, if I am in downtown New Haven I think would rather go to The Cask Republic over this place. Tim the bartender knows my name and he gives me a Guinness with my hamburger.
