Different Pictures — A Test

This is a test to see if my pictures show up in my blogs. I noticed it worked with Flickr but doesn’t with Pinterest or Instagram. The great thing about Instagram is all my pictures go into my Flickr account. I believe a picture says a thousand words.

Being here reminds me of small quaint places in Ireland. I am enjoying a vacation day after 18 days of consecutive work. I am stopping to smell the roses. #route34 # seymourct #catisthebest #llifeisgood

Two years ago I started following Zig Ziglar’s advice about learning one new positive quote each day. I was also a fan of Veretekk’s Daily Messages Online and thought I could do something similar.

What I would do is look up famous people with birthdays today and find a positive or humorous quote.

10 Reasons to Use Video in Your Local Marketing

If you haven't yet considered adding video to your marketing strategy, it might be time to start.  Video rental may no longer be a viable business, but video is having a huge impact on Internet advertising. From all the benefits of video accorsing to small business research, it seems the number one reason video is not considered as a small business promotion tactic is cost.

Well, you may find video producers that charge thousands of dollars for a full-blown five minute custom on-site video, but is all that production really necessary?  If you could get high-quality videos at a small fraction of that cost, it might be something you should consider, for the following reasons;

1) Everyone likes video.  Chances are visitors to your site may not read your posts from start to finish, but it is likely they will watch an entire one-minute video.

2) Video builds trust.  Instead of producing a feature-based video on how great all of the benefits of your products or services are, consider a review-type video that displays one of the 5-star reviews your company has received.  This type of video will definitely rank on Google in a search for your company name.  It may also rank on a more general local search, depending on the competitiveness of your local niche.

3) Video is universal.  Video can be used in ways you may not have considered.  You can not only add video to your website and your YouTube channel, you can add it as a link in your email, on your Facebook page, on LinkedIn, as well as on various other social media sites.

4)  Video is highly searchable. Look at all the Google searchers that return video results on desktop as well as mobile searches. The numbers are staggering!

5) Video is highly sharable.  Video views on Facebook alone number over 4 billion per day.  That is more than half of the world population viewing videos on a daily basis!  Source: PCWorld

6) Video gives you the "wow" factor.  When prospects see your videos, they automatically assume your business is a successful and substantial one.  No one would spend the time and effort to produce a video for a company that was barely getting by. It is not just a status factor, video is something that earns customer respect.

7) Video can be used to inspire and educate, not only to entertain.  If you feel strongly about your small business, you can let people know about it.  It can be a simple belief in small, or family owned business, or something motivational.  Your video doesn't have to go viral, it just has to have a clear message that resonates with your customers.

8) Videos set you apart from your competition.  If video marketing is not that popular in your niche, it will allow you to rise above your competition.  If no one in your local market is doing video, you will have a big advantage over your competitors.

9)  Video allows for greater interaction. People love to comment on videos. You can get multiple reviews from a single video, and multiply the benefit of a single citation.

10) Video stimulates the "buy" trigger.  Everyone loves to save time.  If you get your message across in one minute, you have done an effective job of stimulating the "buy" trigger in the mind of your prospect.

Why is Gmail best for Entrepreneurs?

Exquisite-gmail red

Exquisite-gmail red (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

It might seem unnecessary to write a post about the benefits of Gmail.  Doesn't everyone have a gmail account already?  I just thought it might be useful to review how I use gmail and make some suggestions for those already using it to be more productive as an entrepreneur.

One of the most helpful things gmail does, (which is a fairly recent development), is to sort your incoming emails into three different tabs, a primary one, a social tab, and a promotions tab.  (Actually sorting is also done for spam into it's own separate folder. By the way, the spam checker in gmail is probably the most robust in the industry).

I reserve my primary tab only for the newsletters that I think are important, or communication from people from whom I have purchased products in the past. If you have given out your gmail address in order to download some free information, I don't keep this type of email in my primary folder unless I find it extremely worthwhile.

Anything else I move into the promotions tab.  If you have ever purchased anything from JVZoo or the Warrior forum, it is certain that you will receive a fair amount of promotional email from both of them.  For me, all that belongs in the promotional tab. I reserve my primary tab only for the relatively important stuff.  All you have to do is drag an email to the promotional tab, and say yes.  All email from that address will now automatically be sent to your promotions tab.

I don't have much going on in my social tab, since I have turned off email notifications from any of my social media accounts.  I have a completely separate address for my LinkedIn account, since even the weekly email on that account can be considerable. I suggest you do the same for your LinkedIn account. In addition, I have a separate email for any direct business communication from my website and other sources.

Although I use gmail for my primary email service, I also use Hotmail and Yahoo for my additional email addresses.  If you have an email address from your local cable Internet provider, or another source for your Internet service, I would not use that particular email address if you think you may be receiving a substantial amount of email using that address.  The spam filters are much less effective than other accounts.

That's a quick overview of how I use my email accounts.  I also use Chrome for most of my browsing, since I like the number of extensions Chrome offers.  I have used Mozilla Firefox in the past, but I switched to Chrome.  It is always good to have an alternative browser installed on your computer in case one crashes, and doesn't want to restart. You can use the other to download and install the latest version of the other browser in order to get to work again.

Good luck in all your endeavors!

Facebook Reach? LOL

What is your reach in Facebook?

Say you have a fanpage on Facebook and you post an interesting article or MEME and that post gets a reach of 1200 according to FB. You think thats pretty good. Then you submit another post and it generates a reach of 3200. You think to yourself, WOW, I AM doing good. But you are not doing as good as you should be.

The highest priority with my fanpage is to create posts that create engagement and spurs my fans to take action. When they take action in the form of liking the post, sharing the post or commenting on it it helps expand the reach of the post. Reach is the they key. However Facebook has changed their algorithm.

This from Facebook:

While the goal of News Feed is to show high quality posts to people, we wanted to better understand what high quality means. To do this we decided to develop a new algorithm to factor into News Feed. To develop it, we first surveyed thousands of people to understand what factors make posts from Pages high quality. Some of the questions we asked included:

  • Is this timely and relevant content?
  • Is this content from a source you would trust?
  • Would you share it with friends or recommend it to others?
  • Is the content genuinely interesting to you or is it trying to game News Feed distribution? (e.g., asking for people to like the content)
  • Would you call this a low quality post or meme?
  • Would you complain about seeing this content in your News Feed?

OK all of this seems good, but read more from Facebook:

We used the results of this survey to build a new machine learning system to detect content defined as high quality. The system uses over a thousand different factors, such as how frequently content from a certain Page is reported as low quality (e.g., hiding a Page post), how complete the Page profile is, and whether the fan base for a particular Page overlaps with the fan base of other known high quality Pages. Coming up with an algorithm to detect this is complex, and we will continue to refine it as we get more feedback.

So you see Facebook is actually controling how your fanpage perfoms and grows. Your reach is going to be what FB decides, not from your hard work and expense. They want you to advertise. They make money but they limit your ability to do the same.

When the Internet first started it was free and open to a wide range of ideas and opinons. Now establishment special interests are tying to put everyone onto a box and limit the social media users options for the benefit of a few "elites" The government is also trying to limit the Internet also because they think they know whats best for you.

There is a recent study that most successful people operate in large open networks where they are the link to people from different backgrounds. Read study here

Facebook for example limits you to a closed network  of only your FB friends and then limits the posts they see from you. So your reach on Facebook is limited and less than the Internet as a whole.

So if you are looking for a social network that is free and open and will not limit your entreprenual spirit, then you need to take a serious look at Markethive.  The ECO system for the Entrepreneur. Markethive will make you the key to connecting with the Internet and people like no other social network. Markethive will not limit you ever. Why Entrepreneurship Is Important?

Market Hive marketing tools

Why Entrepreneurship Is Important?

What would you think if you saw a sign that read, "Entrepreneurs Wanted"? Many people would see such a sign as a rare opportunity to fulfil a lifelong dream.

They've long envisioned a life where they could make their own hours, follow their passions, and not have to feel as though the people above them are trying to keep them down.

Others would view such a sign with suspicion.

They might ask, "What's the catch?" They might even come up with a list of reasons why they can't take a chance, begin a new self-made career, and become more successful than they ever thought possible.

While a degree of scepticism can be healthy, all too often people talk themselves out of a business opportunity because, well, they're scared.

They might even look at the lives of successful people and think that those people were simply lucky; that they were at the right place at the right time.

In fact, the difference between those people who are incredibly successful and those who grind it out in an unfulfilling job day in and day out is that the successful people seize opportunities that come their way.

The nine-to-fivers may look longingly at opportunities, but let them slip through their fingers.

Truth be told, there's never been a better time to find a business opportunity and follow your dreams. To a large extent, the Internet has levelled the playing field. If you have a computer and online access, there are unparalleled opportunities presented to “create wealth”. The question becomes, how do you separate the wheat from the chaff? How do you know when an opportunity is the real deal?

First, you need to drop any notion of finding success with multi-level marketing. While multi-level marketing may have made a few people at the top wealthy, no MLM today is creating wealth for those who are just joining.

Second, you need to forget direct sales. Very, very few people are have a natural talent for selling; for the rest of us, direct sales is difficult or impossible, and a sure path to frustration, discouragement, and failure.

Third, you need to embrace a company that has a proven system for marketing. So many Internet businesses fail today because business owners simply don't know how to market. After all, you can have the most attractive website in the world, but if you can't drive traffic to your site, you'll never see a penny.

Fourth, you need to find a great product. In this Information Age, the product should be related to the Internet and have enormous growth potential.

Society has a way of convincing us that wealth arises from those that work hard and get a well-paying job in some financial institution on Wall Street.

While I do not dispute that you can get really wealthy managing other people’s money as a fund manager or if you like to run an investment company like Warren Buffet, you can join in the fray.

For the most of us, we just like to do our own thing and enjoy the freedom that exists in creating our own perception of a business.

Fifth, you want to find affiliate with a company that will take the time to understand your personal and financial goals, and help you in any way they can to reach those goals. Essentially, it's the reverse of what you often find in the corporate world — where the people at the top keep you down.

You want to find a business opportunity where the people at the top — the wealth masters, so to speak — reach down and give you a hand up. They should be able to set you up with the carbon copy of a system that almost runs on auto pilot.

They should have eliminated the need for selling, explaining, bothering people, and pitching friends and family. Instead, they should have perfected a powerful, automated, turnkey marketing system that provides you with the best home business opportunity on the planet.

So does Markethive fulfil the above criteria?

Does it allow powerful social contact and interaction with social marketers — YES

Does it allow a powerful Blogging Platform to maintain contact with your customers — YES

Does Markethive allow powerful contact with your existing Domains — YES

Does it allow east contact with your subscribers — YES

Nails keeping them healthy and disease free

Nails keeping them healthy and disease free.

The nails of humans are present at the end of each fingertip on the dorsal surface. The main function of nail is protection and it also helps for a firm grip for holding articles. It consists of a strong relatively flexible keratinous nail plate originating from the nail matrix. Under the nail plate there is a soft tissue called nail bed. Between the skin and nail plate there is a nail fold or cuticle. Normal healthy nail is slight pink in colour and the surface is convex from side to side. Finger nails grow 1 cm in three months and toe nails take 24 months for the same.

Importance of nails in disease diagnosis:

The colour, appearance, shape and nature of the nails give some information about the general health and hygiene of a person. Nails are examined as a routine by all doctors to get some clues about underlying diseases. Just looking at nails we can make out the hygiene of a person. The abnormal nail may be congenital or due to some diseases. The cause for changes in the nail extend from simple reasons to life threatening diseases. Hence the examination by a doctor is essential for diagnosis .Some abnormal findings with probable causes are discussed here for general awareness.

1) Hygiene:-
We can make out an unhygienic nail very easily .Deposition of dirt under the distal end of nail plate can make a chance for ingestion of pathogens while eating. If nail cutting is not done properly it can result in worm troubles in children. When the worms crawl in the anal orifice children will scratch which lodges the ova of worms under the nails and will be taken in while eating. Prominent nail can also complicate a skin disease by habitual scratching. Sharp nails in small kids are a real danger because small wounds can injure others when they do feet kicking or hand waving.

2) Colour of the nails:-
a) Nails become pale in anaemia.
b) Opaque white discolouration (leuconychia) is seen in chronic renal failure and nephrotic syndrome.
c) Whitening is also seen in hypoalbuminaemia as in cirrhosis and kidney disorders.
d) Drugs like sulpha group, anti-malarial and antibiotics etc. can produce discolouration in the nails.
e) Fungal infection causes black discolouration.
f) In pseudomonas infection nails become black or green.
g) Nail bed infarction occurs in vasculitis especially in SLE and polyarthritis.
h) Red dots are seen in nails due to splinter haemorrhages in subacute bacterial endo Carditis, rheumatoid arthritis, trauma, collagen vascular diseases.
i) Blunt injury produces haemorrhage and causes blue/black discolouration.
 j) Nails become brown in kidney diseases and in decreased adrenal activity.
k) In Wilson’s disease blue colour in semicircle appears in the nail.
l) When the blood supply decreases nail become yellow .In jaundice and psoriasis also nail become yellowish.
m) In yellow nail syndrome all nails become yellowish with pleural effusion.

3) Shape of nails:-
a) Clubbing: Here tissues at the base of nails are thickened and the angle between the nail base and the skin is obliterated. The nail becomes more convex and the fingertip becomes bulbous and looks like an end of a drumstick. When the condition becomes worse the nail looks like a parrot beak.
Causes of clubbing:- Congenital Injuries, Severe chronic cyanosis, Lung diseases like empyema, bronchiectasis, carcinoma of bronchus and pulmonary tuberculosis.
Abdominal diseases like Crohn's disease, polyposis of colon, ulcerative colitis, liver cirrhosis etc.
Heart diseases like tetralogy of Fallot, subacute bacterial endocarditis and etc.
b) Koilonychias:- Here the nails become concave like a spoon. This condition is seen in iron deficiency anaemia. In this condition the nails become thin, soft and brittle. The normal convexity will be replaced by concavity.
c) Longitudinal ridging is seen in Raynaud’s disease.
d) Cuticle becomes ragged in dermatomyositis.
e) Nail fold telangiectasia is a sign in dermatomyositis, systemic sclerosis and SLE.

4) Structure and consistency:-
a) Fungal infection of nail causes discolouration, deformity, hypertrophy and abnormal brittleness.
b) Thimble pitting of nail is characteristic of psoriasis, acute eczema and alopecia areata.
c) The inflammation of cuticle or nail fold is called paronychia.
d) Onycholysis refers to the detachment of the nail from the nail bed, usually starting at the tip and/or sides. The separation of nail bed seen in psoriasis, infection and after taking Tetracyclines.
e) Destruction of nail is seen in lichen planus, epidermolysis bullosa.
f) Missing nail is seen in nail patella syndrome. It is a hereditary disease.
g) Nails become brittle in Raynaud’s disease and gangrene.
h) Falling of nail is seen in fungal infection, psoriasis and thyroid diseases.

5) Growth:-
Reduction in oxygen in your blood supply affects the growth of nails and all nail problems. Nail growth is also affected in severe illness. When the disease disappears the growth starts again resulting in formation of transverse ridges. These lines are called Beau's lines and are healpful to date the onset of illness.

6) The importance of Oxygen
Oxygen provides life and energy to every living cell. If poor eating habits, drinking, pollution, toxins, drugs or lack of exercise abuse your own human systems of body, mind and spirit. When your cells and your genetics are deprived of vital oxygen the immune system becomes weakened.

Low oxygen levels are undesirable because they affect the body's metabolism and may even cause it to manufacture improper chemicals and/or give rise to various health problems. If you want to begin holistic living, start by full body, mind, and spirit detox.

Market Hive marketing toolsIs there a Full Detox Plan for Body, Mind, and Spirit?

If you want to begin holistic living, start by full body, mind, and spirit detox.

The body has its own natural way of detoxification, but if the toxins are too much, it needs some help. There are a lot of detox products available almost anywhere in the world.

Detox products aid the body in the detox process making you feel more revitalized and energized. There are also other benefits of body detox including healthier skin and normal bowel movements.

Spirituality plays a vital role in your daily life. If you believe in God, you know that there are certain things that you should and should not do. Holistic living is gaining more popularity these days. It means that a person should live a healthy and spiritual life.

People with strong faith in God will likely say that a healthy life is worth nothing if your spirituality is at its lowest. These two aspects should always complement each other to achieve full body detox.

Spirituality is also one aspect in a person's life that should also be given equal attention. Prayer is the most familiar form of exhibiting spirituality. It is part of almost any religion found in any part of the world.

Most people will say that you should live your life to the fullest, and so why not achieve a full body detox? Detox or detoxification is a process to eliminate all the harmful toxins that have accumulated inside the body. The body, mind and spirit go hand in hand, why? The body will not function (or even not exist) without the mind, and the spirit.

It is a sad fact that many people have very little time to ponder about their spiritual aspect of life. They are too busy looking for ways to stay healthy, paying the bills, making more money, and meet work deadlines. This may be so, because people have a choice. They can freely choose how to live their lives, as they see it fit.

The mind should also undergo detoxification. You must free your mind from all negative thoughts. There is the so-called Psychoneuroimmunology that has been in existence for many years now in the eastern culture; it believes that the mind and body are linked to each other.

Patients who undergo this treatment are taught how to focus the mind, and visualize the flowing healing-energy into the body's organs which needs healing. If you are successful in doing this treatment, the healing process is said to move at a faster rate. Visualization is the key to unite the mind and body, and achieve results. You can only do this if you get help from the professionals who are into this kind of mind detox. Of course, there are also other types of mind detox that you can make use. Choose one that you think will work best for you.

There is no established 'right' way to pray. In fact, you can pray anywhere you like, any position you like, just as long as it comes from the heart and you have deep faith to your creator. All you need to do is to find the right way of praying, one that will work best for you.

It is then possible to get full body, mind, and spirit detox and these are just simple ways. Getting a professional help can greatly help you in achieving real and tangible results.

How to Fall in Love with Print Books, (Again)

The link below is a post from Publisher's Weekly. It is a reminder with which I wholeheartedly agree. We can't forget the value of the printed book.

For all the benefits for publishers, authors, and readers alike of the various digital formats, we can't forget that books are for first and foremost for readers. There is nothing that can compare with a good print book. There is the look and the feel, and even the smell of a new book. The act of turning the pages, and holding something tangible in your hand that a digital version just can't match.

Do we need to read everything in print? Definitely not, but when you find a treasured book; something you would recommend to all your friends, maybe a children's book that you would like your children, your nieces and nephews, your neighbor's children, and even your grandchildren to read, go ahead and buy the hardcover, or paperback version as well as the digital version, in order to really treasure that book in a greater way then you ever could do with the digital version alone.

I remember my experience with my first ebook.  When I told people I knew that I had written an ebook, the reaction was nonplussed.  "Oh that's nice" was about the strongest reaction I got. When I printed the ebook, even though it was only 50-pages with black and white text, no illustrations, and a color cover, the reaction was almost always,  "Wow!".  I got it printed for $1.74, a nearly unheard of price.  Send me a message to ask me how I managed to do that, or send me an email at one of the links below.
